Tecumseh's Confederacy

Tecumseh’s Confederacy was a coalition of Native American tribes formed in the early 19th century to resist U.S. expansion and protect their lands. Led by Shawnee leader Tecumseh, the confederacy aimed to unify tribes across the Midwest and Southeast, promoting collective defense and cultural preservation. They opposed land cessions and sought to restore Native sovereignty. The confederacy played a significant role during the War of 1812, aligning with Britain against American forces. Ultimately, U.S. military victories weakened the confederacy, leading to increased Native displacement and loss of land.
