Tear Duct Surgery
Tear duct surgery, also known as dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR), is a procedure aimed at restoring normal tear drainage when the tear ducts are blocked. This blockage can cause excessive tearing, infections, or discomfort. During the surgery, a small incision is typically made near the inner corner of the eye, and a new pathway is created for tears to drain into the nose. The goal is to relieve symptoms and improve eye health. Recovery varies, but many patients notice improvement in their tear management and reduced irritation after healing.
