Team Roping

Team roping is a competitive rodeo event where two riders, called headers and heels, work together to catch a running steer. The header ropes the steer’s horns or around its neck, then signals the partner, the heel team, who then ropes the steer’s hind legs. The goal is to complete the task quickly and accurately, comparable to a coordinated team effort. The event requires skill, timing, and teamwork, showcasing both individual technique and collaborative strategy, and it highlights the traditional cattle herding skills used on ranches.
