TDOA-Based Positioning

TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) positioning determines a device’s location by measuring the tiny differences in the time it takes for signals to reach multiple synchronized sensors or base stations. When a device transmits a signal, each station receives it at slightly different times depending on how far away the device is. By calculating these time differences, the system can pinpoint the device’s position through geometric calculations. This method is accurate and widely used in navigation, emergency services, and location-based services, enabling precise positioning without requiring the device to communicate actively with each sensor.
