Taziyahs

Taziyahs are ornamental shrines or replicas used in the Islamic tradition, especially during the observance of Ashura. They commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, at the Battle of Karbala. These structures, often shaped like mini tombs or chariots, are decorated with flowers, banners, and images to honor his sacrifice. Taziyahs serve as visual reminders of justice and faith, helping communities mourn, reflect, and uphold Imam Husayn’s values of righteousness and resistance against oppression. They are significant cultural and religious symbols in many Islamic societies.
