Taziyah
Taziyah is a religious practice observed by Shia Muslims during the month of Muharram, especially on the 10th day called Ashura. It involves mourning the martyrdom of Imam Hussain and his companions at the Battle of Karbala. The practice often includes rituals such as processions, reciting mournful poetry, chest-beating (latmiyya), and reenacting events to express grief and solidarity. Taziyah serves as a reminder of sacrifice, justice, and faith, fostering community unity and spiritual reflection on themes of righteousness and resistance against oppression.
