Taylor's sign

Taylor's sign refers to the observable increase in jugular venous pressure when a person is inhaling deeply. Specifically, during inspiration, if the neck veins become more prominent or distended, it suggests the presence of fluid buildup in the chest, often due to conditions like pericardial tamponade (fluid around the heart). This occurs because increased pressure in the chest impairs the heart’s ability to fill properly, causing blood to back up into the veins. Thus, a positive Taylor's sign indicates potential cardiac or pericardial issues requiring further evaluation.
