Tasmanian Tiger
The Tasmanian Tiger, officially called the thylacine, was a carnivorous marsupial native to Tasmania, Australia, and New Guinea. It resembled a large dog with a slim body, distinctive stripes on its back, and a stiff, kangaroo-like tail. Despite its name, it was not a tiger but earned the nickname due to its striped coat. The thylacine was nocturnal, a top predator in its ecosystem, but it became extinct in the 20th century due to hunting, habitat loss, and disease. Today, it is a symbol of wildlife conservation efforts and remains a focus of popular speculation and research.
