Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)

Targeted Temperature Management (TTM) is a medical approach used to carefully control and lower a patient's body temperature after a cardiac arrest or severe brain injury. The goal is to reduce brain damage by slowing down metabolic processes and limiting inflammation. Typically, doctors cool the patient to around 32-36°C (89.6-96.8°F) for a certain period, then gradually rewarm them. TTM has been shown to improve survival rates and neurological outcomes by protecting the brain during critical recovery times. It requires precise monitoring and adjustment to ensure safety and effectiveness.
