Tare
Tare weight refers to the weight of an empty container, packaging, or vessel before any contents are added. It’s important in weighing because, to determine the actual weight of the contents, the tare weight is subtracted from the total weight. For example, if a box weighs 2 kg empty and holds 5 kg of items, the gross weight is 7 kg. To find the net weight of the items, you subtract the tare (2 kg), leaving 5 kg. Tare weight allows for accurate measurement of only the contents, excluding packaging.
