tape recording

Tape recording is a method of capturing audio signals onto a magnetic medium. It uses a tape made of a plastic strip coated with tiny magnetic particles. During recording, an audio signal is fed into a recording head, which converts the sound into electrical signals. These signals alter the magnetic particles on the tape, encoding the sound as a pattern of magnetized areas. To play back, the tape passes over a playback head, detecting the magnetic patterns and converting them back into audio signals that can be heard through speakers. This technology was widely used for music, speech, and data storage before digital methods became dominant.
