tape delay
Tape delay is an audio effect created by recording sound onto magnetic tape and then playing it back after a slight pause. When a sound is fed into a tape machine, it’s temporarily stored on the tape, and as the tape moves through the machine, the sound is reproduced with a delay. This process can be adjusted to control the length of the delay, creating echoes or spacious effects. Tape delay was widely used in music production before digital delays, and it’s valued for its warm, natural echo and unique sonic qualities.
