Tanjur (Tibetan Buddhist scriptures)
The Tanjur, also known as the Tibetan Buddhist Kanjur, is a collection of sacred scriptures that form a significant part of Tibetan Buddhist tradition. It includes texts such as teachings of the Buddha, commentaries, philosophical treatises, and ritual instructions. The Tanjur is traditionally written in Tibetan and serves as a spiritual guide, conservator of doctrine, and scholarly resource for practitioners and teachers. It is complemented by the Khajur (Tibetan Tanjur), which contains commentaries and expansions. Together, these texts preserve the theological, ethical, and meditative teachings fundamental to Tibetan Buddhism.
