Tangkhul

The Tangkhul are an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in the northeastern Indian state of Nagaland and parts of Myanmar. They have a rich cultural heritage, including unique festivals, traditional dances, and craftwork. Historically, they were agricultural communities practicing shifting cultivation, and they value strong kinship ties and community decision-making. The Tangkhul language belongs to the Tibeto-Burman family, and many also practice Christianity, which influences their cultural practices.
