Tangible Intangible Heritage
Tangible heritage refers to physical objects and sites that hold cultural significance, such as monuments, buildings, artworks, and artifacts. Intangible heritage encompasses non-physical aspects like traditions, oral histories, languages, music, and rituals that are passed down through generations. Together, they represent a community’s identity and history. While tangible heritage can be seen and touched, intangible heritage is experienced and lived. Both are essential for understanding and preserving a culture’s richness and diversity, often requiring different conservation approaches—physical preservation for tangible items and safeguarding practices and knowledge for intangible traditions.
