Tanaim

Tanaim are the foundational Jewish religious authorities from the early centuries of the Common Era who systematically studied, interpreted, and structured Jewish law (Halacha). They lived roughly between 70 CE and 200 CE and composed important texts called the Mishnah, which organizes oral traditions and legal principles. Their work laid the groundwork for later legal discussions and decisions, influencing how Judaism is practiced today. Think of Tanaim as the first scholars who carefully recorded and clarified centuries of Jewish teachings to ensure their preservation and proper application.
