Taliban Regime

The Taliban is a political and military group that emerged in Afghanistan in the 1990s, primarily composed of Pashtun Islamic students. They gained control of Afghanistan in 1996, imposing strict Islamic laws characterized by severe restrictions on women's rights and public behavior. After being ousted by U.S. forces in 2001, they regrouped and continued insurgency efforts. In August 2021, the Taliban regained power as U.S. forces withdrew. Their regime is noted for its conservative interpretation of Islam, limited freedoms, and ongoing international concerns regarding human rights and security.
