TALEN

TALENs (Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nucleases) are engineered tools used to edit DNA. They consist of two parts: a customizable protein that recognizes specific DNA sequences and a DNA-cutting enzyme called a nuclease. When both TALENs bind to their target sites on the DNA, the nuclease creates a precise cut. This allows scientists to add, delete, or alter genetic material at specific locations. TALENs are useful in research, medicine, and agriculture for developing new therapies, studying genes, or improving crops with targeted genetic changes.
