Talaq (divorce)
Talaq is a traditional Islamic procedure for divorce, where a Muslim man can end his marriage by pronouncing the word "talaq" (meaning "I divorce you") typically in a specific manner. The process often involves a waiting period ('iddah') during which reconciliation is possible. Modern interpretations and legal systems in various countries regulate or restrict talaq to ensure fairness and prevent misuse. While traditionally a unilateral act by the husband, some jurisdictions have introduced requirements for judicial approval or mutual consent to uphold the rights of women and promote justice.
