Taiwan Provincial Government

The Taiwan Provincial Government was the administrative body responsible for managing Taiwan's broader regional affairs when Taiwan was a province of the Republic of China. Established to oversee local governance and development, it operated separately from municipal governments like Taipei or Kaohsiung. However, in 2018, its functions were largely abolished, and many responsibilities were transferred to the national government, making the provincial government mostly a ceremonial entity. Today, Taiwan's central government handles most regional administration, simplifying the governance structure while maintaining remnants of the provincial framework.
