Taisho Era

The Taisho Era (1912-1926) was a period in Japan marked by a move toward greater democracy and social change. Named after Emperor Taisho, it followed the rigid Meiji era and featured more political participation, cultural shifts, and modernization efforts. Despite political instability and economic challenges, the era saw the rise of urban culture, new artistic expressions, and increased international engagement. It was a time of transition from traditional imperial rule to a more modern, democratic society, setting the stage for Japan’s continued development in the 20th century.
