Taiping Heavenly Kingdom

The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom was an influential rebel state established in China from 1851 to 1864, led by Hong Xiuquan, who claimed to be the younger brother of Jesus Christ. It aimed to overthrow the Qing Dynasty and create a new society based on Christian principles, equality, and land reform. The movement attracted millions of followers and sparked a massive civil war known as the Taiping Rebellion. Despite initial military successes, the Qing forces ultimately suppressed it, but the conflict significantly weakened the imperial dynasty and contributed to significant social and political upheaval in China.
