Taifa of Murcia

The Taifa of Murcia was a small, independent Muslim kingdom that existed in the southeastern region of the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages, roughly between the 11th and 13th centuries. Formed after the decline of the Caliphate of Córdoba, it was part of the many petty states called taifas that emerged during this period. Known for its cultural and artistic achievements, Murcia's taifa was strategically located, facilitating trade and interactions with neighboring states. It eventually fell to the Christian Reconquista, becoming part of the Kingdom of Castilla in the late 13th century.
