Taifa of Jaén
The Taifa of Jaén was a small, independent Islamic kingdom that existed in southern Spain during the Middle Ages, particularly in the 11th century. It emerged after the fall of the Caliphate of Córdoba, as local Muslim leaders established their own city-states. Jaén was known for its strategic position and agricultural productivity. The taifa period was characterized by fragmented states often competing for power, leading to frequent alliances and conflicts. This era ended when larger Christian kingdoms reconquered the region during the Reconquista, gradually incorporating Jaén and other taifas into the growing Christian realm.
