Tahrir al-Sham

Tahrir al-Sham is an Islamist militant group based mainly in Syria, formed in 2017 as an alliance of several organizations, including the prominent Jabhat al-Nusra, which was linked to al-Qaeda. Its goal is to establish an Islamic state in Syria, and it operates primarily in northwestern Syria. The group has been involved in the Syrian civil war, fighting against government forces, other rebel groups, and participating in complex alliances. While it presents itself as a defender of Sunni Muslims, many countries consider it a terrorist organization due to its extremist ideology and tactics.
