TAF
TAF, or Terminal Aerodrome Forecast, is a detailed weather prediction specifically for a small area around an airport. Issued four times daily, it provides information about expected weather conditions—such as wind, visibility, temperature, and atmospheric conditions—over a 24 to 30-hour period. This forecast helps pilots, airlines, and airport operations plan flights safely, ensuring they are aware of potential weather challenges during takeoff, landing, and ground operations. Essentially, TAFs are critical tools for maintaining safety and efficiency in aviation by providing up-to-date weather insights tailored to airport environments.
