Tacky’s Revolt

Tacky’s Revolt was a major slave uprising in Jamaica in 1760-1761, led by an enslaved man named Tacky. Enslaved Africans and Black people rose up against harsh conditions and oppression, attacking plantations and freeing fellow slaves. The rebellion was fueled by the brutality of slavery, desire for freedom, and hope for better lives. Though eventually suppressed, it significantly challenged colonial authority and highlighted the brutal realities of slavery, influencing future movements for racial justice and emancipation.
