Tablets of Atrahasis

The Tablets of Atrahasis are ancient Mesopotamian writings that tell the story of humanity’s creation and a great flood. They describe how gods shaped humans from clay to serve them, but humans multiplied and annoyed the gods. To reduce their noise, gods sent plagues, droughts, and eventually a massive flood. Atrahasis, a wise man chosen by the gods, was warned and built an ark to survive. These texts are among the earliest records of flood stories and offer insights into Mesopotamian beliefs about divine-human relationships, creation, and destruction.
