T3 and T4 hormones
T3 (triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine) are hormones produced by the thyroid gland that regulate how your body uses energy. They influence many bodily functions, including metabolism, temperature, heart rate, and growth. T4 is the more abundant hormone but less active, while T3 is more potent and active. T4 is converted into T3 in tissues to kickstart processes like energy production. Proper levels of these hormones are essential for maintaining overall health; imbalances can lead to conditions like hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
