T1 and T2 Mapping

T1 and T2 mapping are advanced MRI techniques that measure specific properties of tissues in the body. T1 mapping assesses how quickly protons in tissue realign with the magnetic field after being disturbed, providing info about tissue composition like fibrosis or fat. T2 mapping measures how fast protons lose their signal in a different way, highlighting tissue water content and inflammation. These maps create detailed, quantitative images that help doctors detect, diagnose, and monitor heart, brain, or other tissue abnormalities more precisely than standard MRI images.
