T-scores

T-scores are standardized scores used in medical and psychological assessments, especially bone density tests, to compare an individual's results to a healthy young adult population. A T-score indicates how much a person's measurement deviates from the average of young, healthy individuals, measured in standard deviations. For example, a T-score of -1 means your result is one standard deviation below the young healthy average, which generally indicates normal bone density, while a score of -2.5 or lower suggests osteoporosis. T-scores help healthcare providers assess risk and decide on appropriate interventions.
