T-cell receptor (TCR) engineering

T-cell receptor (TCR) engineering involves modifying immune cells called T-cells to better recognize and fight diseases like cancer. T-cells naturally have receptors (TCRs) that detect threats, but sometimes they need enhancement to identify cancer cells more effectively. Scientists can alter or introduce specific TCR genes into T-cells, enabling them to target unique markers on cancer cells with high precision. This process results in engineered T-cells with enhanced ability to seek out and destroy cancer, forming the basis of personalized immunotherapy treatments.
