T-cell memory

T-cell memory refers to the immune system's ability to remember and quickly respond to pathogens it has previously encountered. When your body fights an infection, certain T-cells adapt and stay in your bloodstream and tissues. If the same pathogen tries to infect you again, these memory T-cells recognize it swiftly, coordinating a faster and more effective immune response. This is the basis for long-term immunity offered by vaccines and previous infections, helping your body defend itself more efficiently upon re-exposure to the same threat.
