T cell education
T cell education is a selection process that occurs in the thymus, where developing T cells learn to distinguish between the body’s own cells and foreign invaders. During this process, T cells are tested to ensure they can recognize and respond to pathogens but do not attack the body’s own tissues. Those that fail to recognize foreign molecules or mistakenly target the body's own cells are eliminated. This helps create a balanced, self-tolerant immune system capable of defending against infections without causing autoimmunity.
