T Cell Depletion
T cell depletion is a medical process where specific immune cells called T cells are removed from a person's blood or stem cell collection. T cells are an essential part of the immune system that help fight infections and monitor for cancer cells. In some treatments, like stem cell transplants or certain therapies, removing T cells helps prevent the body from attacking itself or the transplanted cells, reducing the risk of complications like graft-versus-host disease. The process involves collecting the cells, using special techniques to strip out T cells, and then returning the remaining cells to the patient.
