T accounts
T accounts are a visual tool used in accounting to track the increases and decreases in specific financial items, like cash or expenses. They are called "T" accounts because they look like the letter T, with the account name at the top, and two sides: debits on the left and credits on the right. When money is received or an expense occurs, the amounts are recorded on the appropriate side. T accounts help organize and understand how transactions affect each account, making it easier to prepare financial statements and ensure accuracy in accounting.
