Systemic Inequity
Systemic inequity refers to the ways in which societal institutions and structures—such as education, employment, housing, and legal systems—create and sustain unequal opportunities and outcomes for different groups. These disparities are embedded in policies, practices, and cultural norms, often unintentionally favoring certain populations while disadvantaging others based on race, ethnicity, gender, or socio-economic status. Unlike individual prejudice, systemic inequity is built into the fabric of society, making it difficult for affected groups to access the same resources, rights, and opportunities, perpetuating cycles of disadvantage across generations.
