systemic bias
Systemic bias refers to ingrained patterns or unfair practices within institutions or society that favor certain groups over others, often unconsciously. These biases are embedded in policies, procedures, and cultural norms, leading to unequal opportunities and treatment based on characteristics like race, gender, or socioeconomic status. Because they are built into the systems we rely on daily, systemic biases are persistent and can be difficult to recognize and address without intentional effort. Understanding them helps us work toward fairness and equity in various areas such as education, employment, and justice.
