Syrian Revolution
The Syrian Revolution began in 2011 as part of the Arab Spring, when widespread protests erupted against President Bashar al-Assad's government, demanding political freedom and an end to corruption. The government responded with violence, leading to a brutal conflict involving various domestic and international actors. Over time, the unrest evolved into a complex civil war with multiple factions, including opposition groups, extremist organizations, and foreign militaries, causing immense humanitarian suffering. Despite some attempts at peace, ongoing fighting and displacement continue to impact millions of Syrians.
