Synthetic element
A synthetic element is a chemical element that doesn't naturally occur on Earth and must be created in a laboratory through nuclear reactions. They are produced by forcing atomic nuclei together using particle accelerators or nuclear reactors, resulting in new, heavier elements. These elements often have very short lifespans and are used mainly for scientific research. Examples include elements like technetium and plutonium. Because they are man-made, synthetic elements help scientists understand atomic structure and nuclear processes beyond naturally existing elements.
