SYNTAX trial

The SYNTAX trial was a large medical study comparing two treatments for complex coronary artery disease: coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) and a procedure called percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), often involving stents. Researchers aimed to see which treatment led to better outcomes, like survival and fewer heart problems, over five years. They used a scoring system to grade the disease's severity and found that for more complex cases, bypass surgery generally had better results. The trial helps doctors decide the most appropriate treatment approach based on the complexity of a patient's artery disease.
