Synovectomy
Synovectomy is a medical procedure that involves removing inflamed or damaged synovial tissue—the lining of a joint, such as the knee or elbow. This tissue can become swollen and painful due to conditions like arthritis or injury. By removing this problematic lining, the procedure aims to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain, and improve joint function. Synovectomy can be performed surgically through open surgery or minimally invasive techniques using a tiny camera (arthroscopy). It is generally considered when other treatments haven't effectively controlled joint symptoms, helping restore mobility and comfort.
