Synodical Conference
The Synodical Conference was a cooperative association of Lutheran church bodies in North America, primarily in the United States, formed to foster mutual support, doctrinal unity, and coordinated ministry efforts. Established in 1872, it enabled member synods—regional church groups—to collaborate on missions, education, and doctrinal issues while maintaining their own governance. The conference helped strengthen Lutheran identity and outreach through shared resources and organized initiatives, playing a significant role in the history of American Lutheranism until it gradually dissolved and restructured in the late 20th century.
