Synchronous orbit

A synchronous orbit is a path around a planet where a satellite takes exactly the same amount of time to complete one orbit as the planet takes to rotate once on its axis. For example, a satellite in synchronous orbit around Earth orbits approximately every 24 hours, matching Earth's rotation. This means the satellite remains fixed over the same spot on the planet's surface, making it ideal for communication, weather observation, and navigation satellites. Essentially, a satellite in synchronous orbit "keeps pace" with the planet's rotation, providing a stable vantage point.
