Synchronization License

A synchronization license, often called a sync license, is a legal agreement that allows someone to use a piece of music in conjunction with visual media, such as films, TV shows, commercials, or video games. When a filmmaker or content creator wants to pair a song with their visuals, they must obtain this license from the music’s copyright holder. This ensures that the songwriter and composer are compensated for the use of their work, while also granting permission for the music to enhance the storytelling or branding of the visual content.
