synaptic strengths
Synaptic strength refers to how effectively a connection between two brain cells (neurons) transmits signals. Imagine it as the volume knob on a speaker; a stronger synapse produces a louder response, making it easier for the message to pass along. Synaptic strength can increase with experience or learning, making communication more efficient, or decrease with less use, weakening the connection. This adaptability, called synaptic plasticity, underlies learning, memory, and how the brain adapts to new information and experiences.
