Symptoms of Allergic Conjunctivitis

Allergic conjunctivitis is an eye condition caused by allergens like pollen, pet dander, or dust mites. Symptoms include redness and swelling of the eyes, intense itching, and a watery or stringy discharge. People may also experience a burning sensation, sensitivity to light, and a gritty feeling, similar to having sand in the eye. These symptoms can occur in both eyes and may be worsened by rubbing the eyes. Treatment often involves avoiding allergens and may include antihistamines or eye drops to relieve discomfort and inflammation.
