Swordmaking
Swordmaking is the craft of shaping metal—typically steel—into a functional weapon. It involves heating the metal until it's malleable, then forging it by hammering to align its internal structures and shape the blade. After forging, the sword is cooled, ground to refine its shape, and sharpened to a cutting edge. Additional processes like polishing, heat-treating, and sometimes etching enhance durability and appearance. Skilled swordsmiths balance strength, flexibility, and aesthetics, creating blades suited for use or display, reflecting both technical mastery and artistry in each piece.
