Swedish Free Schools

Swedish Free Schools, or "friskolor," are independently operated schools that receive public funding but are financed and managed outside the traditional municipal school system. Established to promote diverse educational approaches and increased parental choice, these schools can be run by private organizations, companies, or associations. They must meet national curriculum standards but have flexibility in teaching methods, curriculum design, and school environment. This system aims to encourage competition, innovation, and personalized education, providing families with more options while maintaining accountability to government education regulations.
