Sutton and Boveri Theory
The Sutton and Boveri Theory, also known as the chromosomal theory of inheritance, proposes that genes are located on chromosomes, which carry hereditary information. Sutton's observations of chromosome patterns during cell division, combined with Boveri’s findings on chromosome behavior in development, suggested that chromosomes are the physical basis for genetic traits. This theory explains how traits are inherited through specific chromosomes, providing a molecular explanation for Mendelian genetics and establishing chromosomes as the carriers of genetic information in animals and plants.
